Car of the Week – Porsche 964 Turbo

Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010

This weeks car of the week was found due to me really wanting a 944 Turbo at the moment and the temptation to look through the cars for sale on Pistonheads was just too much for me to bear as i am fed up with my cheap runaround and don’t want to look into car hire yet.

This weeks car is not a 944 but a 964. The 964 is the model name for the Porsche 911 that was produced between 1989 and 1994.  The 964 Turbo can with a very powerful (for the time) 3.6 straight 6 turbo engine hanging over the rear axle driving the rear wheels with 355bhp. The 964 Turbo is a proper supercar with a top speed of 174mph and a 0-60 of only 4.8 seconds. Considering that the car in question is now 16 years old it is more then capable of keeping up with the majority of cars on the road today.

The car that i have been dribbling over is a very late 93 Turbo model with the classic ‘whale tail’ spoiler finished in Horizon Blue. The car has had a new full-bespoke tailor-made interior in Black leather and Alcantara with sky blue detailing. The car has only done 82k and has a list of improvements including a new clutch, Full stainless steel race exhaust by Haywood & Scott, New RS Style Steering wheel, New RS Style Ducts and a recent full service.

The car is truly ‘mint’ and i am sure the pictures don’t do it justice. The for sales advert is here, check it out if you have a spare £36,000.

Angry Ferrari 612 GTO Concept

Friday, June 11th, 2010

Ferrari have been on a roll of late with designing and selling some of the prettiest supercars on the market. Obviously someone in Ferrari thought it was time to mix it up a bit.

I have been posting a number of concept cars of late and i wanted to start including some more road going cars, but then i saw this and couldn’t stop myself blogging about it.

The new Ferrari 612 concept car is designed by the famous ‘angry car’ designer Sasha Selipanov. The German car designer is well known for his aggressive looking cars and the 612 GTO is no exception. There are some excellent photos of the new concept on his blog angrycardesigner.com which i would recommend everyone checking out.

Enjoy a couple of select images from Selipanov’s collection.

Free SuperCar When You Buy Luxury Yacht

Wednesday, June 9th, 2010

This certainly is not a sailing blog, but when i heard of the free car that you get when you buy the new Strand Craft SC122 yacht i couldn’t help be write a quick blog post about it.

The Luxury yacht in question is the new Strand Craft SC122 and come in at a whopping £17m. “at that price they should give you a free car” I hear you cry, but its no normal car. The Sc122 comes with a bespoke 234mph supercar that features a twin turbo V12 engine that pumps out a huge 880bhp. With the ability to hit 60 in just 3.2 seconds the free accessory that you get with the SC122 sounds like it can rival most of the other supercars on the market today.

The car is Designed by Eduard Gray and doesn’t even have a name yet. The supercar will spend most of its time in the custom garage below deck while its owner enjoys the supreme luxury of the yacht.

The SC122 is as you would expect from a £17m yacht in that it has everything you could ever need. The power of the yacht is massive compared to the nameless super stored in its belly, with two Twin Rolls-Royce engines each pump out over 4,000bhp, and there’s an optional 5,000bhp booster if the standard amount just won’t do.

Here are some images of both the car and the yacht.

Audi A9 Concept Car

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

Daniel Garcia’s Audi A9 Concept car reminds me of the Audi sports car used in the 2004 iRobot film starting Will Smith, but if you look a little closer at the details of the car you can see that this is a car full of unique design features that will leave you wanting more.

The A9 concept car included some very cool features like self-repairing panels, which i can only imaging means that the exterior of the car will be similar to the BMW Gina concept, but that is still to be confirmed. The exterior of the car will also have the ability of change colour at the touch of a button.

The Autoblog article about the concept mentions “someone told us this will be the 2016 A7 Sportback we’d give them the benefit of the doubt.” I think i might take that with a pinch of salt thank you. Here are some pics from the Autoblog post.
