America is the homeland of stupidest accidents and human ignorance, and each of such accidents can be taken as the worldwide standard of stupidity. Rowan Atkinson did destroy an F1, although the price tag was somewhat smaller than you state. I do not remember America ever helping Britain out ‘from being taken over’.

In fact, apart from the Battle of Britain, which was fought by the RAF, there was no invasion assault on Britain and nobody has invaded since 1066.

Of course, there are lots of films where US actors play the part of British soldiers and I understand that this can be confusing.
